Tea with Hockney by Julien Tomasello

$3,500.00

Tea with Hockney by Julien Tomasello is a triptych collage on canvas panels and is  24 x 108 × 3" inches.

In the words of the artist:

Tea with Hockney (2021) is inspired by my childhood desire to leave my lonely and conventional world and “go through the looking glass” into artist David Hockney’s sun-drenched and hedonistic world in Southern California- to join Hackneey’s bright, beautiful, and talented troupe as friend and muse.

Both works included in the exhibition Dollhouse contain architectural elements that connect to the miniature structures of a dollhouse. Both pieces also contain narratives of autobiographical fiction. These narratives blend actual events, dreams, and desires I expreienced as an LGBTQ+ young person, during the 1980s and 1990’s with threads of fictions influenced through the books, music, films, television, and art I absorbed during this time. This combining of fact and fiction, dream and desire, parallel the constructed narratives created during doll-play.
