I took this photo after a long rehearsal. I love the juxtaposition of the beauty of point shoes but the tones of black elude to the grit, the passion and the hard work that goes into a performance. When you are an audience member, you see the final product, choreographed and polished with pretty costumes. But the truth of being a performing artist is that you have to be tough, be willing to share your self with the audience. Every wrinkle on each shoe means something. Each dancer so does her shoes a particular way it is like a fingerprint unique to each dancer.
